Design Process

We strive to understand all aspects of your design needs before we start a project. We will design your project to your budget specification. Some of your costs are determined by what you provide to us:

Do you have existing artwork ready for production?
Do you have an idea of what you want our design to look like?
Do you need us to lay out a logo or redesign from your existing brand or business card?

Design Fees

For simple layout and text, design fees are included (sample A). When you require a greater service to develop your logo, help with the brand message, or provide image resources, design fees occur (sample B). These costs are estimated prior to the work and submitted for your approval. Design fees, as agreed, are billable regardless of the outcome of your project.

Working With Provided Artwork

We are happy to work with your designer or agency to create the best solution for your project needs. All artwork should be submitted in a production-ready format, line art, and saved as a .ai or .eps file. All photographic files should be provided at 300 dpi, at 100% scale, and saved in either CMYK or RGB format.

Please call us if you have any questions at (269) 381-6869. Artwork that is not submitted as specified above may incur additional costs based on an hourly rate of $75.00 per hour to scale, fix, recreate, or change artwork according to your project needs. You will be notified if the need for this work is required prior to our beginning the process.

Custom Color Match

We are happy to adhere to strict color management systems. However, due to the subjective nature of color-matching, additional costs for custom-color-matching samples and time may be required. Please let us know if your project requires custom color-matching. We can provide you the additional cost estimates based on your project needs prior to getting started.

1. Why do I need a sign permit?

In most circumstances, a sign, modified or installed outside, requires a sign permit. The municipality regulates this for the property it resides in. Sign permit cost and acquisition time vary by each municipality and the scope of your project.
2. Do you remove graphics from vehicles or current signage?

We are often asked about the cost of removing graphics from vehicles and signage. This price varies greatly and is billed hourly. We do have some customers who choose to remove their graphics themselves. A heat gun, some 'elbow grease,' and liquid adhesive remover are the items you will need to accomplish the task. It can be a messy and daunting task.
3. How long does it take to make a sign?

Creating a sign can depend on various things, including what type of signage and how big you need the sign. In some cases, it can vary between 3 days to 3 months. Please call our team to find out more.
4. What do we need from customers?

The more info we can get from the customer, the better prepared we are to provide accurate estimates and often a quicker completion time. Many customers have their logos already. High-quality files are necessary to produce your signage accurately and keep your colors consistent.
5. How long will my sign last?

We produce signage types that are intended to last virtually forever inside. Signs installed outside have a wider berth of life expectancies, for which we are always happy to recommend with more info from our customer. As with many things, budget often drives the type of signage someone purchases, and the type of signage produced often has an expected lifespan. The actual location of the signage plays a big part. Often, on signs that are 2-sided, one side of the sign lasts longer than the other due to sun exposure.
6. Can I install my own sign?

Absolutely. If we have a customer ask to install something that we think is outside of their scope of abilities, we may make other recommendations, but every day, we are making items that our customers install.
7. Can you install my sign?

8. Can you color match a sign based on the logo colors?

Today's technologies offer us great abilities in keeping our customer's colors accurate. The best process for this is to have all of your colors produced in Pantone color values. This is a worldwide matching system used across many industries to help keep color consistent.
9. Can you use my files?

We are more than happy to use customer-provided files. The best file types are vectors, which are fully scalable (no resolution loss). If your files are image-based, it is important to make sure they are large enough to be scaled to your final output size and still look presentable at the intended viewing distances.
